Newsletter and New Release Lists: All information collected from this site is used only by Clair. The e-newsletter list data and new release list data is stored via the third-party mailchimp.com to their Privacy Policy and is managed by Clair. It is not ever sold to a third party or made available for sale. The information collected, email address, first name, last name, birthday, and country are stored in order for Clair to communicate directly with you. She may send you emails containing newsletters, promotions, and special offers. If you do not want to receive such email messages, you will be given the option to opt out or change your preferences. The opt-out opportunity is presented at the bottom of every Newsletter and New Release Newsletter email (two separate lists) you receive. Clicking on that link will remove you from that particular list.

Ordering links: Please note that if you purchase a book through a link on this website or associated social media pages, your purchase will be handled by the vendor you select (e.g., Amazon, Kobo, Nook, Apple, Google Play) and they maintain their own separate information about you that is NOT shared with Clair.

Social Media: If you use a third-party connection, for example, through Facebook or Twitter by “following,” “liking,” Clair Brett pages, that third party may pass certain information about your use of its service but note that cliarbrett.com itself does not collect retain any of this information. You should always review, and if necessary, adjust your privacy settings on third-party websites and services, like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc. before using them to link to other places.

Analytics information: Clair and her web team may directly collect analytics data, or use third-party analytics tools and services, like Google Analytics, to help measure traffic and usage trends for her web pages, email newsletters, promotions, and social media connections. These tools collect information sent by your browser or mobile device, including the pages you visit and other information that assist in improving your user experience. This analytics data is collected and used in aggregate form such that it cannot reasonably be manipulated to identify any particular individual user.

Log file information: clairbrett.com is routinely monitored/scanned for virus checks, malware identification, etc., in order to keep it a secure site. As such, log file information is automatically reported by your browser or mobile device each time you access the site, and the server automatically records certain log file information. These server logs may include anonymous information such as your web request, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, referring / exit pages and URLs, number of clicks and how you interact with links, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed, and other such information.

Google Analytics, Adsense, and Cookies

My site uses many Google products to give me data about the visitors here. This includes cookies, demographic data, and behavior on the site. It will tell me, for example, how many people came to my site from Facebook or visited on a mobile device. I never get individual information, like Suzy Q. visited on her Apple iPhone. I get numbers, just so I can see how I am drawing traffic to my site. I use this data to make my site better for its frequent users (making sure it’s mobile friendly, rendering correctly, etc).

I also use Google Adsense as a way to help defray hosting costs. These ads are tailored to your personal tastes and browsing behavior. If you were just on, say a site for Walt Disney World, you might then see a Walt Disney World ad in the sidebar here or in a chapter post. I don’t know you saw a Walt Disney World ad, only Google handles all of that information. It uses cookies to give you ads that are relevant to you.

Facebook Ads

My site includes use of the Facebook pixel which can be used to serve you ads on your social media based on your browsing behavior. Facebook’s pixel also helps me be better about any advertising I send out to make sure it only goes to people who are interested in what I have to offer.  Neither Facebook, nor I, want to spam anyone, of course. Again, like other tracking software, I never get individual information or data, just group data to see trends.

Also, though I use Facebook’s ad services, I am not an employee of Facebook nor do I have any affiliation with their company. They also have no affiliation with the content on this site.

If you want to opt out of Facebook ads, visit http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ and manage the companies you receive advertising from. You will need to do this, though, for each browser.

Twitter Ads
I also use Twitter Ads and tracking cookies to make sure campaigns I purchase there are accurately billed. They collect 3rd party data from links clicked on Twitter and from the use of my site. At times, my site uses Google Forms and other applications to collect information from visitors, such as email addresses, mailing addresses, and names for giveaways or mailing lists. I take every precaution I can to protect this information and I do not share it with other authors or services.
